THE OFFICIAL SITE OF HORROR SCREENWRITER & COMPOSER, ROGER CREWS.

HORROR SCREENWRITER & TV/FILM MUSIC PRODUCER

Growing up as a kid in Los Angeles, CA. during the 1980s Horror Slasher Movie Era, Roger Crews knew he was destined to be a horror screenwriter & composer after watching films like Wes Craven's "A Nightmare On Elm Street" & after listening to Charles Bernstein's haunting music score to this film.

On weekends, he would go to the local video store with his father to rent movies & order pizza for family night. Roger would go straight to the horror section & would select movies based on the cool 80s horror art cover on the VHS tapes.

Demons, Demons 2, Fright Night, The Amityville Horror, Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Slumber Party Massacre, Gremlins, Ghostbusters, Spaceballs, The Lost Boys, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Edward Scissor Hands, Batman, Beetlejuice, Child's Play, Evil Dead, Poltergeist, Fire Starter, Motel Hell, The Howling, Prince Of Darkness, Salem's Lot, The Fog, Halloween, Faces Of Death, Masters Of The Universe, Predator,  Cannibal Holocaust, Pumpkinhead, Alien, Dolls, Children Of The Corn, Blade Runner, An American Werewolf In London, Christine, House, Fatal Attraction, The Gate, Creepshow, Tales From The Crypt, The Outer Limits, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, ET, The Fly, The Shining, Pet Sematary, The Hills Have Eyes, Star Wars, Hellraiser,  Witchboard, Terminator, Night Of The Living Dead, Return Of The Living Dead, etc..

This made Roger go down the rabbit hole of horror. He became an obsessed fan & watched older classic horror movies.  Psycho, The Exorcist, The Birds, Plan 9 From Outer Space, House Of Wax, Creature From The Black Lagoon, House On Haunted Hill, & had a fascination with Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone".

He digged deeper into horror & watched... The Haunted Castle,  A Trip To The Moon, The Phantom Of The Opera, Nosferatu & The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari.

Newer classics... The Craft, The Blair Witch Project, The Insidious Franchise, The Conjuring Franchise, The Nun, Annabelle, Lights Out, Get Out, Smile, Terrifier 1,2 & 3, Oculus, Delirium, Paranormal Activity, Ouija, Sinister, Malignant, Glass, The Purge, The Visit, Whiplash, Hostel 1 & 2, Thanksgiving, The Green Inferno, Clown.

Quentin Tarantino's style of screenwriting/filmmaking left an impression as well with... Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Natural Born Killers, Dusk Til Dawn, True Romance, Four Rooms, Jackie Brown, Death Proof, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Kill Bill 1 & 2, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight.

Other films that made an impact not necessarily horror... Superman (Christopher Reeve), Rambo, Platoon, Back To The Future, Top Gun, Indiana Jones, Die Hard, Cheech & Chong, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Beverly Hills Cop, Lethal Weapon, Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, Uncle Buck, Rocky, The Karate Kid, Porky's, Airplane, Police Academy, Footloose, Naked Gun, Purple Rain, Coal Miner's Daughter, Heavy Metal, Dirty Dancing, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest & many many others.

Today's films rely so much on "CGI". What made movies attractive in the 1950s, 1960s & the 1980s was, they relied on performance, atmosphere & practical effects.

Roger will now return what Wes Craven & others in the movie making business gave him,

Nightmares!!!
